Cembalest "Smothering Heights" (2026 Outlook) + "The Blob" (2025-09)

J.P. Morgan 内部对 AI 的判断不是单声道: - JPM AM Market Insights("On the Minds of Investors",Bob Michele 公开口径)—— 报告 #19 的来源 —— 措辞偏中性:"we don't think we're in an AI bubble now",但给出 $650B IRR 门槛让客户自己算 - JPM AM Eye on the Market(Cembalest 个人署名)—— 这两篇 —— 措辞显著更尖锐:直接用 "smothering"(窒息)/ "metaverse moment"(暗示 Meta 2022 暴跌 50%)/ "things may not work out"

Smothering Heights

Cembalest 把 W 换成 S(Smothering = 窒息、压制、覆盖):

"the generative AI investment theme has **smothered** the rest of the US equity market. Without the benefit of these 42 AI stocks, the S&P 500 would have underperformed Europe, Japan and China."

封面是一个由 NVIDIA 芯片 / TSMC 制造 / ASML 光刻机构成的护城河(moat)——Cembalest 全文反复追问:"this moat is really indestructible?"

---

| 指标 | 数值 | Cembalest 的诠释 | |------|------|-----------------| | 4 hyperscaler + 4 semiscaler 市值 | $3T → $18T(7 年) | "the largest moat in market history" | | 8 家公司 / 全球股市 | ~16% MSCI ACWI / ~20% MSCI World | 集中度史上最高 | | 42 只 AI 股贡献 S&P 500 自 ChatGPT 后 | 65-75% 利润、收益、capex | "smothered the rest" | | 4 hyperscaler 自 2022Q4 累计 capex+R&D | $1.3 万亿 | 这是文章的核心驱动数字 | | Tech 行业 capex 贡献近 3 季度 GDP 增长 | 40-45% | 从 2023Q1-Q3 的 <5% 跳升 | | Tech capex / GDP(2025) | ~2.4%(已超 dotcom 峰值) | "exceeded the dotcom era" | | Meta capex+R&D / revenue | 70%(历史新高) | vs S&P 500 中位 10% |

三、四个 WCGW 风险("What Could Go Wrong")

| 章节 | 标题 | 页数 | 在 53 页中权重 | |------|------|------|----------------| | WCGW #1 | A Metaverse moment for the hyperscalers | 7-19(13 页) | 最重、最 immediate | | WCGW #2 | US power generation constraints | 20-26(7 页) | 中期物理瓶颈 | | WCGW #3 | China scales the moat with its own lithography-semiconductor technology…when, not if | 27-32(6 页) | 长期竞争格局 | | WCGW #4 | China and Taiwan | 33-37(5 页) | 尾部风险 | | The Rest | tech contributions / Fed dilemma / tariffs / 等等 | 38-53 | 杂项 |

"If not, moat companies could face a version of the **Metaverse reckoning** that took place in 2022 when the Mag7 stocks fell in half."

Meta-RL(Reality Labs)

| 子分析 | 内容 | 关键发现 | 我的精读评注 | |--------|------|----------|------------| | [a] 模型 benchmark 进度 | 10 个 benchmark 综合 / OpenAI o3 在 Codeforces > 99% 人类 / Otto-SR 2 天复现医学综述(人类需 12 work-years) | 模型能力真实在指数提升,但 benchmark 可被 game | 给"AI 不是骗局"立基础——Cembalest 没有否认技术 | | [b] 企业采用率 | Anthropic 数据:36% 职业有 25%+ 任务用 AI;OpenAI Q4 2025 内部报告 ChatGPT 消息量 +8x,API reasoning token 消费 +320x YoY | 采用确在加速 | 但"采用 ≠ 付费意愿"——Cembalest 明确写这个 caveat | | [c] 对企业利润和就业的影响 | Stanford AI Index 调研:"the largest number of respondents found cost and revenue benefits to be rather small" | 微观利润影响仍小 | 这是第一个"红灯" | | [c'] MIT vs Wharton 鸿沟 | MIT NANDA 2025-07: 95% 企业 zero return,CEO 信心从 82% (2024) 降至 49% (2025) / Wharton 2025-10: 乐观得多 | "surveys are not substitutes for tracking actual profit and spending data" | MIT 95% zero return 是全文最致命数字 | | [d] Hyperscaler revenue 与现金流 | Microsoft 是唯一披露 AI revenue 的 hyperscaler($10B 推理业务)/ free cash flow margins gradually declining / cash balances falling | 缺少透明度本身就是问题 | 这是 Burry 论点的同义命题 | | [e] GPU 折旧问题 | Hyperscaler 自 2020 把 GPU 折旧期从 4-5 年延长到 5-6 年 / 若回到 3 年:EPS 与营业利润率下修 6-8%(Oracle 更大) | 账面 EPS 被会计延长支撑 | 这是 Cembalest 自己建模、与 Burry 独立得到 $176B 类似结论 | | [f] 为何 capex 仍可能继续 + OpenAI 风险 | 5B 用户 × 1.6M tokens/天 = 8 quadrillion/天 → 需要 23-92 GW 推理算力 vs 现有 20 GW AI-capable | bull case 在数学上可能成立 | 思想实验级别——Cembalest 自己说"I'm not a futurist" |

``` AI share of capex: 2023=40%, 2024=55%, 2025=70%(Amazon 用 20/30/50%) GPU share of AI spend: 45% Networking share of AI spend: 15% GPU/NW salvage value: 10% ```
把折旧期从当前账面(5-6 年)改成 3 年,结果:
| 公司 | 营业利润率下修 | EPS 下修 | |------|---------------|----------| | Microsoft / Google / Meta / Amazon | -6% 到 -8% | -6% 到 -8% | | Oracle | 显著更大(具体未披露) | 显著更大 |
精读评注: 1. 这是 Cembalest 全文最有信息量的一张表——其他报告都在喊"折旧低估",但只有他自己建模量化 2. 6-8% 的 EPS 下修听起来不大——但对于 P/E 25-30x 的股票,定价模型会放大成 ~12-15% 的股价下修;如果连续 3 年发生,复合压制 3. Oracle 的特殊性:因 Oracle 全部资本结构不同——OpenAI $60B/年承诺 + 自身大举借债 + free cash flow 远低于 hyperscaler——Cembalest 反复点名 Oracle 是 "the canary"
4.4 投资品类回报表(最揭穿性的图)
Cembalest 把 AI 主题拆成三类,做指数化对比(Dec 31, 2023 = 100):
| 类别 | 自 2023-12 累计回报 vs 等权 S&P 500 | |------|---------------------------------------| | AI infrastructure(半导体、电气设备、tech hardware、电力) | 大幅跑赢 | | AI enabled revenues(卖 AI 产品/服务的软件公司) | 几乎与等权 S&P 500 持平 | | AI productivity beneficiaries(高人力占比、高 AI 替代潜力的公司) | 几乎与等权 S&P 500 持平 |
Cembalest 的结论:
"So far only the AI infrastructure providers have generated substantial excess returns. ... If so, **other than the infrastructure plays, genAI is still a stock-pickers story rather than a secular one.**"
这是全篇最重要的一句话——把 AI 投资还原为: - 基础设施层(NVDA / MSFT / GOOG / AMZN)已兑现 - 应用层 / 受益层 完全没兑现 - 整个 $1.3T capex 的"接收方"(应用层企业)股价没动
那钱去哪了?答案是 NVDA。这意味着:如果 NVDA 股价见顶,整个 AI 主题没有第二条腿支撑。
---
五、债务转折点:Oracle 与 Meta Hyperion(最具操作性的章节)
Cembalest 在 Executive Summary 第 4 页直接点名两个"债务异常值",这是 The Blob (2025-09) 的核心预言在 4 个月后的兑现:
5.1 Oracle 的"循环交易"
"OpenAI committed to pay Oracle **$60 bn per year**, an amount OpenAI doesn't earn yet, to provide cloud computing facilities that **Oracle hasn't built yet**, and which will require **4.5 GW of power** (the equivalent of **2.25 Hoover Dams or four nuclear plants**)."
精读评注:这一句话把 OpenAI-Oracle 交易的三重荒诞性压缩到一行: - "doesn't earn yet" —— OpenAI 当前 $25-30B ARR,离 $60B/年还差一倍 - "hasn't built yet" —— Oracle 数据中心还在工地 - "2.25 Hoover Dams" —— 物理能源约束
Cembalest 在 The Blob 里就引用 Doug O'Laughlin (Fabricated Knowledge) 的判断:
"There is no way for Oracle to pay for this with cash flow. They must raise equity or debt. ... The stable oligopoly is cracking. ... What had been a disciplined, **cash-flow-funded race may now turn into a debt-fueled arms race**."
Smothering Heights 给出 4 个月后的实测: - Oracle 股价自 2025-09 跌 ~35% - Oracle 5Y CDS spreads +90 bps
5.2 Meta Hyperion 的会计魔法
这是全篇我认为最值得反复读的一段:
``` Meta 与 Blue Owl 共建 Louisiana 的 Hyperion 数据中心 SPV 结构:Meta 持 20%,Blue Owl 持 80% Blue Owl 实体借 $27B 投资级债务 Meta 给 SPV 一份 Residual Value Guarantee (RVG) RVG 随时间递减,但始终 > 未偿债务,20 年后归零 S&P:不合并 SPV,因 RVG 是 "out of the money" S&P 评级 Meta 仍为 AA- ```

Cembalest 的反算("focus on real economics rather than financial engineering"):

| Meta net debt / EBITDA 演变 | 数值 | |--------------------------------|------| | 年初 | 负值 | | Q3 2025 | 6.6% | | 含 2025-10 发的 $30B 债 | 37% | | 若并表 Hyperion | 63% | | S&P 500 中位 | 200% |

"Et Voila! Off balance sheet…"

5.3 Cembalest

P/E | 60-80x | 30-35x | "roughly half the levels" | | Tech PEG | 4-8x | 1-3x | "much more reasonable" | | Free cash flow margins (tech) | ~10% | ~25% | "extraordinarily high profit margins" | | YUC(年轻不盈利公司)市占 | 高 | 远低于 dotcom & SPAC | "less reliant on YUCs" | | Tech 行业净债务 | 高 | 5% of S&P net debt(28 个 Direct AI 占 50% 市值) | "debt-fueled arms race" 才刚开始 |

"**This year looks to be another version of 2025: a 10%-15% correction at some point due to profit-taking and a growth scare, but then equity markets end the year higher than where they began. Even so, it's the right time to start focusing on these questions.**"

预测 2026 还是涨年("end higher than where they began")—— 给私行客户继续持有 hyperscaler 的理由 2.

这与 Bill Gurley (#03) 的 "one day we trip and run out of money"、Burry (#09) 的"卖空"立场截然不同。

Cembalest

"**while the existing amount of AI capacity may be able to meet future consumer inference demand using the assumptions above, that would not leave any capacity left for inference demand from enterprises, sovereigns/defense or low-latency inference (robotics, autonomous cars, ...), or any compute for foundational model training.**"

但他立刻又拉回来:8 quadrillion tokens/天 = "a paradigm shift in how AI is used in daily life"——这个 paradigm shift 没有在任何现有 ARPU / 付费意愿数据中得到验证。

| The Blob (2025-09) 预言 | Smothering Heights (2026-01) 兑现 | |------------------------|-----------------------------------| | Oracle "stock jumped 25% after promised $60B/year" | Oracle 股价自 9 月 -35%, CDS +90 bps | | Doug O'Laughlin: "tech capital cycle may be about to change" | Cembalest 自己: "Capex financing vs capex cycle" 图——债权融资比例从 1990s 末以来首次拐头 | | "AI 41 stocks 占 S&P 500 returns 75% / earnings 80% / capex 90%" | 数字升级到 65-75%(口径稍调,但量级一致) | | 数据中心建设支出超过 office buildings 与 electric power | Smothering Heights 重申,加上 power constraint 章节 |

The Blob

``` Starring AMAZON WEB SERVICES MICROSOFT AZURE GOOGLE CLOUD META Produced by EQUINIX DIGITAL REALTY TURNER CONSTRUCTION Directed by OPENAI ANTHROPIC XAI Financed by BLACKSTONE DIGITAL BRIDGE SAUDI INVESTMENT FUND Based on an original 2017 paper "ATTENTION IS ALL YOU NEED" by GOOGLE BRAIN RESEARCH
The data center blob! - Strained Power Grids! - Higher Nighttime Loads! - Harmonic Distortion! - Higher Power Prices! - Soaring PJM Capacity Payments! - Rapid depreciation Of chips and Interconnects! ```
这不是开玩笑——它是把所有承担风险的方都列了一遍:上游(hyperscaler)/ 中游(数据中心 REIT)/ 下游(AI 实验室)/ 资金方(私募信贷 + 主权基金)/ 技术原点(Google "Attention is all you need" 论文)。每个名字后面都对应一类风险载体。
The Blob 是 Smothering Heights 的"目录索引"——3 个月后的 Outlook 把每一个名字都展开成完整论证。
---
九、与其他报告的关系(不重复 #19 已写过的部分)
| 对比对象 | Cembalest 的独特贡献 | |---------|-------------------| | #19 JPM AM "On the Minds of Investors" $650B | OMI 给"门槛",Cembalest 给"详细推导 + 6 维证据 + GPU 折旧自建模 + Oracle/Meta 案例" | | #18 Bain $2T Revenue Gap | Bain 是宏观恒等式,Cembalest 是公司层面的微观证据(Meta 70% capex/rev、Microsoft AI 披露透明度问题) | | #20 MS $1.5T Financing Gap | MS 是供给侧(融资缺口),Cembalest 是需求侧(应用层股价没涨)+ 案例侧(Oracle/Meta SPV)—— 三者拼成完整三角 | | #09 Burry $176B 折旧低估 | Burry 是空头投机,Cembalest 是同一论点的"机构内部认证"——Cembalest 用 3 年折旧情景重算得到 EPS -6 to -8%,与 Burry 数字相互独立但同向 | | #02 Capital Economics 双泡沫 | CE 给定性框架(估值泡沫已破、盈利泡沫未破),Cembalest 给定量证据(PEG / FCF margins / EPS sensitivity) | | #03 Bill Gurley AI Bubble Reset | Gurley 是"vibes-based"看空("run out of money"),Cembalest 是"机构 sell-side 能说到的最严厉边界"——两者结论方向一致,措辞一软一硬 | | #21 Sequoia 600B 框架合成 | 21 号是合成各家口径,Cembalest 是其中一家但有独家定量内容 |
---
十、方法论评价
10.1 Cembalest 的写作技法
| 特点 | 例子 | 评价 | |------|------|------| | 数据驱动 + 视觉化 | 53 页几乎每页都有图表 | 私行客户友好 | | 对称论证 | bear case 后必有 bull case 思想实验 | 体制内 sell-side 必备 | | 拒绝 vibe | "surveys are not substitutes for tracking actual profit" | 与 Wharton 等乐观派切割 | | 隐喻精确 | Metaverse 类比而非 dotcom | 显示对历史细节的把握 | | 罕见情绪流露 | "Et Voila! Off balance sheet…" | 唯一一处真实立场暴露 | | 预言-兑现循环 | The Blob → Smothering Heights | 显示分析框架稳定 |
10.2 Cembalest 没说的(沉默处)
  • **没有给 NVDA 股价目标**——尽管整篇文章的逻辑指向 NVDA 是关键单点
  • **没有给具体 reduce hyperscaler 比例的建议**——保留给客户经理
  • **对 OpenAI / Anthropic 估值(OpenAI $730B 等)只字未提**——可能因为 JPM 自己有一级市场敞口
  • **没有触及 hyperscaler 高管 RSU 兑现节奏**——这是 Burry 关注的内幕指标
  • **完全没用 Cahn / Sequoia 的 $600B 框架**——可能因为 Sequoia 是 VC,机构 sell-side 不引同业 VC
10.3 数据质量(哪些可以信、哪些要存疑)
| 数据点 | 来源 | 可信度评估 | |--------|------|-----------| | $1.3T capex+R&D | Bloomberg + Q3 财报 | 高 | | Meta 70% capex/rev | Meta Q3 财报 | 高(公开数字) | | GPU 3 年折旧情景 EPS -6 to -8% | Cembalest 自建模 | 中(依赖 AI capex 占比假设) | | Microsoft "$10B AI inference run rate" | Q1 2025 公司披露 | 高 | | MIT NANDA 95% zero return | MIT 2025-07 报告 | 中(n=153 调研基础小,但与 Bain Tier-1/Tier-2 分化论一致) | | 5B users × 1.6M tokens 思想实验 | Cembalest 自己声明 "I'm not a futurist" | 低(只是数学练习) | | Oracle CDS +90 bps | 信用市场实测 | 高 | | Meta net debt/EBITDA 63%(含 Hyperion) | Cembalest 重新合并计算 | 高 |
---
十一、可借鉴的写作框架
如果要复制 Cembalest 的论证风格写自己的研究报告,关键是:
1. 开场用客观的集中度数字 ——不下结论,让数字自己说话("42 stocks generated 65-75%...") 2. 把"是否泡沫"拆成可独立验证的子问题 ——不要用单一指标([a]-[f] 六层分析) 3. 找一个精确的历史类比 ——不是 dotcom 也不是 telecom,而是 Metaverse 2022——精确度本身就是 credibility 4. 针对每个 bear point 必给一个 bull counter ——保护机构客户对冲态度 5. 一定要有自建模型 ——Cembalest 的 GPU 3 年折旧情景表是全文最有信息量的 6. 结尾留台阶 ——"明年还是涨但请开始关注" 7. 预言-兑现 cycle ——The Blob (2025-09) 预告 → Smothering Heights (2026-01) 兑现 → 让客户验证你的判断稳定性
---
十二、对当前阶段(2026-04-26)投资判断的启示
把 Cembalest 1 月的判断与 4 月实测对照:
| Cembalest 1 月预测 | 4 月实测 | 评估 | |-------------------|----------|------| | 2026 出现 10-15% correction | 标普 2 月下旬出现一波回调 ~10% | 基本兑现 | | 之后涨回新高 | 4 月初已基本反弹到位 | 基本兑现 | | Oracle 是 canary | Oracle CDS 4 月续走阔,TD Cowen 报告"美银行从 Oracle OpenAI 项目融资撤退" | 加速兑现 | | MIT 95% zero return 是关键观察 | 暂无大型企业 disclosure 反驳 | 待观察 | | 2026 内 hyperscaler 折旧调整可能 | 暂未发生 | 关键监测点 | | Meta SPV 类结构会扩散 | 多家 hyperscaler 跟进 | 兑现 |
整体看 Cembalest 的预测窗口期前 4 个月正确率高——这强化了他对 2026H2 的判断(capex/revenue gap 真正显形的窗口)的可信度。
